I have no problem fitting anode studs, the type with the welded on plate, to a grp hull, but occasionally when tightening the nuts that hold the anode on the whole stud starts to rotate risking breaking the seal to the hull. This can be prevented by grippling the square welded on plate but many chandlers are now stocking studs with circular plates almost impossible to grip with the anode in place. Does anyone have a technique for stopping the rotation?

Drill 2 holes into the round plate so that an angle grinder locking wrench can hold the stud.

Grind a slot in the edge of the round plate so it can be held with a C -spanner.

I just weld my studs to my steel hull but I don't think you can do that with GRP.

Think you are right about welding to GRP ?. Like your C spanner idea but it will have to be made from plate thinner than the plate on the anode so it slips between the anode and hull. Thanks.

Double nut the stud and use that. Only trouble is that you need 2 people or use mole grips on the inside on the double nut and brace it against something convenient.

Thanks, was hoping not to need a second person but I could fit a strip of stainless steel on the inside, with two holes spaced for the two studs, over the studs, then have a nut above and below the strip locked against each other, like you suggested.......
