Anode replacement

I have a Merc alpha 1. Gen 2 sterndrive.
i was replacing the anodes and when I did the one on the propeller shaft It appears to stick out so it’s not flush when the thrust washer is put on. The picture attached shows it sticks out maybe 1/4 inch. Will this hurt it before the anode wears down. Is this normal. I bought the kit for alpha 1 gen 2. All other fits properly

The casing outside seems very uneven, cant remember mine being like that, thought it was perfect metal finish. Have you a corrosion problem there ?
