Helping a friend replace the hull anode on his newly acquired Cobra 850 and we discovered that one wire from the anode bolts goes to the engine, but another wire, about 30mm. to 45mm. Long, is not attached to anything.
Question is, what should it be connected to?

The wire to the engine is so that the prop is protected. Any flexible shaft coupling must be bridged to ensure a circuit all the way to the prop so check that.

The other wire to what ever else below water that needs protecting. But dont connect it to things like bronze or DZR seacocks etc which do not need protection.

There may be nothing , it may have been disconnected from something it need not/should not be connected to.

Whats within range of it?

I'd remove it rather than leave it floating about doing nothing

Thanks VicS,
Nothing within it's range except the gearbox and there is no obvious place to connect it to on that. The area is nice and clean with no through hull fittings and there is no flexible coupling.
Seems strange when the previous owner, from the general condition of the boat, was not the kind of guy that would leave a loose wire around.
