Annemometer not spinning no more!?

I have just noticed that my annemometer has ceased to turn despite there being a gale blowing. I guess it can only turn so many million times before giving up. When the boat is back in the water I will go up and investigate. Any ideas what the cause and solution may be? Ta.
 
The cause is probably the bearing drying out and seizing.
The probable answer is to get it down, and see if you can open it to lubricate the bearings.
Other than that, get it down and send it off for repair.
I've had the same problem in the past (on a different boat), and have sent mine off to the service agent.

...or alternatively get that bearing out yourself and go to BSL for a replacement. Save yourself about £50 allegedly. I've not done this, just heard that it can be done. I'm sure if you send a new post asking how to do it someone will know.

To avoid it happening again take you wind sensor off every winter, lubricate it, and store it somewhere safe and dry.
 
My experience has been with the Nasa Clipper which has two S/S pins protruding from top and bottom for wind vane and annemometer to slip onto. Their bearing is just a nylon bush with long life silicone grease.

I don't know about the Stowe.

Stowe repairs...

You can get the bearings repaired/replaced by <A target="_blank" HREF=http://awmarine.com>A W Marine</A>, who bought up all the Stowe spares when Stowe was taken over by Simrad.

My Stowe windspeed sensor has stopped spinning too, but I haven't got round to taking it off the mast yet.
