The way the forum is set up it says "contact a moderator via PM" if one has problems, but when I try, get a message

What's going on with my account? I can't post in time, can't see various useful forums, eg Covid, can't upload useful photos or diagrams, can't respond to snarky answers.

Is this going to last forever? Is it a technical hitch, or a deliberate humiliation?

That’s my understanding of the situation. As you know we don’t discuss moderation, but I can assure you that myself and others check the moderation queue regularly. I suggest you send an email to FAT/Admin if you want to ask any more questions. The link is at the bottom of the screen.

The way my permissions is set up, it isn't. Likewise, I can't contact the admin via their user page as I can't access that either.

There's a link "contact us" at the very bottom of the page. Try logging out and accessing the forums as a visitor.
