Anew culinary creation for on board easy living

Very much a staple with us as well. Matteson’s smoked sausages don’t need refrigeration. Biltong is a great idea though. Will try that. You can get small packs in most supermarkets. An alternative to pepperoni sausages, if you can find them, is a pack of polish thin smoked sausages...can’t remember what they are called, (thin kabanos?) but they’re delicious.

From the local Polish Sklep I can get thin veal sausage and venison and garlic sausage. Last really well and not much is needed to impart an authentic Central European flavour.

Leaving for Ostrava tomorow-looking forward to Veprove, Zeli and Knedlik. Gulas will be on the menu as well as good Czech Klobasa.

A nearby village, Mosnov, has the best Zirmazlina I have ever tasted.

I've been on the hook the last few days with the fridge off, so all fresh meat had been used up. So a rummage was had in the larder... jar of jalfrezi curry sauce complete with wee packet of spices in the top of the lid. Last green pepper from thew fridge, diced... a tin of potatoes, sliced, fried in a deep frying pan, add the spices and then the contents of jar. In 5 minutes, a really tasty veggie curry. I also keep mini nan breads on board that keep for ages, then a splash of water and under the grill for a few minutes. Ace!

Standard standby meal for us is one tin/jar frankfurters (cut into bite sized bits), one time baked bean and one tin sweet corn. Mix together, heat for five minutes, serve. Usually served with wraps (because they keep forever) for a bit of extra carb. Warming, filling and simple. Bit of Worcester sauce for me but you could add Tabasco if preferred some like HP sauce.

Smell of frankfurters make me retch but the pepperami version in pasta sounds to be worth a try. I do a simple kedgeree as well, using smoked mackerel and those pouches of rice (wide choice of flavours) and if available, some yoghurt to stir in.
Another regular is corned beef rosti - grate a spud and onion with the corned beef, form into small slabs and fry.
Those sachets of potato and onion are still available in Sainsburys ....a godsend
