I suppose it was inevitable.

I dropped my Asus tablet in the car park and smashed the screen.

I seem to remember a tickbox in the Google Settings that said something about auto backups.

I have bought a new Tablet and managed to automatically get most of my apps back.

Unfortunately, my MX Mariner chart data did not come across neither did my boaty
photos. Got my tides back though.

It seems that data files do not travel. Am happy to buy the charts again but would
definitely like to have the pictures back.

Is there any other way to get data files back ?

Thanks in advance.

If it's only the screen that's broken and it still fires up you can plug your tablet into a computer with a mini usb to usb cable. The computer will see it as an external drive and you should be able to find a folder with your pics. You can drag and drop into the computer. I take it your tablet doesn't have the pics stored on a card?

Thanks Spyro .

Excellent.

I have copied pictures to the PC using the USB cable from the tablet before so I should be able
to do this. Although the sceen is totally unreadable, every chance that it still works.

You should be able to get your MX Mariner charts back. I paid for them and loaded them on a Moto E phone. It was to much for memory memory so I had to delete them and uninstalled MX Mariner then cleared out some of the other apps. When I reinstalled MX Mariner from the Playstore it effectively remembered I had paid for them so I could reload them for free. Its also pay once use many times as I have also been able to download them on to another phone and a tablet.

It was a bit of an experiment, and I have been quite impressed. I don't use it for passage planning, but the boat I normally sail has the plotter at the chart table, and I can sit at the back of the cockpit k and just check from time to time we are where I think we are. I do find that at some zoom levels the charts can look a bit fuzzy but for £10 ish for the app and charts I am not complaining.
