Andratx advice....

Thanks again for the pointers. I'm now booked in to Andratx in August. Whilst on a roll I also tried out the online booking systems for Adriano and Soller. I have to say that it all seems terribly efficient. (Famous last words?) The Andratx system also uploads the ships documents so the next time you book they will already be there with no need to faff about again. Even though the bookings are a fair way off I was expecting it to be more difficult than it was.
BTW booked into Adriano for July 23rd and also booked tickets to see Gloria Gaynor do her stuff at the marina! Any other disco fans making the trip? Are these events at Adriano any good?

My boat lives in adriano, I haven't been to any of their concerts, but from.what I hear they're pretty good.

I will let you now how we get on with Gloria. Would love to be there for ELO (although its not Jeff Lynne), on Aug 6th, but not out until the following week.
I asked as I was a bit surprised that with only two weeks to go there were still plenty of the seated tickets left, so I wondered how well supported these events were. We do love mixing boating in with other events if possible, so the Adriano efforts are right up our street. If its any good Im sure we will be regular visitors.

I think a lot of people think the ticket prices are a bit on the high side, that was certainly the case last year.

Thats probably it. The tickets aren't cheap, let's hope there's a good atmosphere to make it a memorable night out.
Perhaps the very high Adriano berthing costs encourage the organisers not to be too shy with the pricing!! : -)

Status Quo at Cowes was very fairly priced a few years ago. Being able to step off the boat berthed at standard Cowes Yacht Haven prices into the concert then stand at the front was great :)

Sounds great. Cant be too much longer before Parfitt hangs up the guitar for the sake of his heart!
We are always looking for events to get to by boat. We love the customary cruising/mooring/anchoring/drinking/eating/drinking/cruising home thing, but better still if there is even more reason to get somewhere. Last year in the UK we got to Fowey to see Elton John at the Eden project a cab ride away, (Eden sessions highly recommended), and also spent a weekend in Falmouth for the Sea Shanties which was great fun too. We missed out on the IOW festival though. Its a shame Glastonbury isn't coastal!
Particularly looking forward to the events in Adriano as hoping the evenings will be a bit warmer than last year in Cornwall!!

Status Quo! I would imagine that avoiding the tumble weed as it blew through the venue was the biggest problem :)

Don't you believe it mate. I guarantee you'd be singing along with the rest of us. A lovely quite intimate venue - they then went on to play some large arenas like the NEC and the O2 Arena.

Bass went right through me!

Perfect thanks

We spent a week in Club de Vela, Puerto de Andratx in 2014, as Hurricane mentioned, they placed us (two F43s) close to the travel hoist but I must say that we really enjoyed it there; the marina restaurant by the pool as I recall was very good; there is also a bus, first stop directly outside the marina gates, that takes you into Palma just a short distance from the Orange train station that takes you into Soller, great day out.

What is it about boaters that makes old rockers do concerts nearby? In last few years in Antibes+Monaco we've done Madness, Tracy Chapman, Sting, Santana, Frankie->Hollywood, and tina turner

Could be that they feel most comfortable in close proximity to other groups with similar chemical dependancies!
Im now working out how much diesel it will take to get to Antibes and back... might be a bit far just for a concert, but would try to coordinate a trip with a good act when the time comes.

Where I struggle is paying over the odds for crappy sears in a vast auditorium or feeling the need to pucker up and hand over big numbers for V.iP packages. Smaller more intimate venues are so much better. The girls went to see Tom Jones at Osborne house. Did it on the spur of the moment, paid on the gate, got right up to the stage and had a ball. Seem to remember they got legless as well but that's another story.

An added little bonus, a bit like arriving somewhere and finding it's their regatta week or the local carnival.

Henry :)
