Due to a personal dispute with the ex - ' friend ' who built the site for me, the Anderson 22 website is out of my hands and there is an untrue claim I haven't paid the domain which I certainly have !

Long story.

So while I get that site taken down and make a new one, anyone with any questions about Anderson 22's or 26's please ask here or PM me.

I know absolutely nothing about website hosting, but as an Etap owner it is disappointing that the the Etap Owners website seems to be defunct. It can be accessed and downloads are still operational but the forum no longer works. It relays you to "Tabcrest.com" who I imagine may have been the hosts for the site. The forum was a mine of information.
Several readers have tried to locate the moderator without success.
With your obvious knowledge of website management is there any chance of recovering the site or is it a dead duck?

Hi Coveman,

my knowledge re websites is very far from obvious !

Building and hosting a website are two very different things; it takes someone who knows a particular software - such as Microsoft Wordpress - to build a site, with ' hyperlinks ' between the pages of info.

Hosting is just paying a company for a space on the internet.

My problem with the Anderson website is that I took a course on the original software ' Frontpage ' then when that became obsolete an ex-friend ( who was handsomely re-imbursed ) built a new site for me using Wordpress.

That ' friend ' later threw a wobbly, and now I cannot access my own site I pay for, ie to put members' boats up for sale or delete when they are sold - and then put there incorrect remarks such as I haven't paid for the domain - I have, so as I can't be bothered to go legal I have asked the hosts to take the site down; the space and address ( domain ) is still mine, I just have to learn something like Wordpress or GoDaddy, some software myself then put it up - it's about £70 a year for hosting, another £10 + for the domain.

It's a labour of love, I'm lucky if it breaks even, a lot of people grab the free info, ask a question or two then clear off !

If your Etap site is still viewable someone must be paying for the hosting and domain; the Anderson
chat forum in my case is a different setup entirely, run for free on Yahoo - which was set up by a member - I think that's quite straightforward but you'd have to get on to Yahoo as to how to do it.

Thanks Seajet,

I shall pursue you ideas - I don't think anyone paid a membership so I imagine whoever developed the site got fed up with doing it all for free. Its just a shame it was not offered to someone else to take on.
Many thanks
