Anderson 22, it is not a mythical beast!

Captain Fantastic,

you're very welcome for a chat over a pint and a sail, but the latter will have to be next year as due to health reasons I kept my boat ashore this season.

Andy

I love that even now it's unthinkable that you might sail on someone else's boat!

Seriously though, enthusiasm is what drives reputation. When I bought my Vivacity there was very little interest in them on the internet from what I could tell (and I did search!). I loved the boat and started a blog, so did a couple of other people. A Facebook group started and a few joined, enthusiastic and sharing ideas about their little cruisers. I now get messages from people who are seeking to buy one asking for advice, and even the occasional offer to buy mine.
I've never been near an A22 but I feel confident that even if it's not the fastest (sorry Seajet!) it's at least a good performer. I've also seen the interior in pics and it's a nice looking boat for the size. I'd have known none of this if there wasn't an enthusiastic guy on the forum banging the drum, and I can only assume the banging has gotten louder as reputation grew :D

LustyD,

I think you have done a fantastic job on and for the Vivacity 20, and you've quite likely saved her from slipping quietly into history.

I realised long before this thread that I was overenthusiastic, so am trying to lean it off but sometimes a subject comes up when the boat is worth mentioning.

I'd never say it's the fastest 22' design, except maybe in heavy weather - very experienced people who saw mine perform in such conditions commented that other 22' boats they'd had would have stopped dead.

Actually I enjoy sailing on other peoples' boats, and if it's a design I haven't sailed before all the better.

My only trip this season has been on a chums' new-to-him Centaur and that was very enjoyable, I would have done more if not for my health snag ( CVS ), then again I wouldn't have kept my boat ashore if not for that !

At least I'm gradually getting an unscheduled refit in.

OK I'll try posting a pic - again...

I thought I'd help out with the photo Seajet.

Googled 'Anderson 22' and found this - reminds me of the Maltese Falcon with those lines at the front.

As I mentioned the best pics are by permission on the website and I don't want to abuse that, so have a look there to satisfy your cravings.

Incidentally we now include Hunter 701's; two had joined as there's no Hunter backup and the A22 is very similar, was based on the 701, so A22 members agreed we should bring them on board.

Oh go on then, this particular shot was never published so should be OK; as you can see it might look good but that's because Duncan Kent had crash tacked her, she is in fact temporarily stalled, the telltales are the giveaway.

Now that's more like it !

Front cover of the sales brochure.

I was told that the chap in the beard in that photo is Robin Knox Johnston, but that may well have been sales BS.
