Anyone experience with Andersen winches? They appear to be a good deal cheaper than the Lewmar's and Harken's. Is there a downside? I intend to buy either two each new Andersen 40 and 46 selftailing 2-speed winches or used Lewmar or Harken's.....
Feedback much appreciated.

I had a bunch of....

...them, totally nine, most of them self tailing, on one of my previous yachts.
On my recent there is one self tailing.
I have absolutely no complaints att all!
They all worked perfectly all the time, quiet and smooth and as a benefit the drum surface seems to be much kinder to the sheets compared with Lewmar´s surface.
If I had to "re-winch" my yacht I would, whitout doubt, go for Andersen!

Re: I had a bunch of....

I can only re-iterate this response. Perfectly happy with them, very kind to the sheets, relatively light but strong. I have several up to electric primaries of size 68. I'd definitely take them again regardless of price.

I Had Andersens on my last boat. They were lovely pieces of kit really well engineered A real pleasure to use. Because of the ribbing on the drum they gave good grip but they allowed the sheets to move up and down without chafe and gave less resistance. Go for them!
