Dehler and Etap use a synthetic rubber material called TBS. It is undoubtedly the best deck non-slip about but it is expensive and, I believe, difficult for non-professionals to apply. Like Treadmaster, when it does finally wear out, it can be the devil's own job to get back to a sound surface for retreatment.

I believe TBS comes in grey and yellow so it may be that your decks started out that way.

how did they get all ridgy in the first place? Was it because of sandblasting? Or scrubbing them with wire brushes? No, it was cos they were left out in the rain, which acts as a slow-motion jetwash , digging out the soft bits. So, how about a deck tarp with press studs out of the way for when not on boat? I'm gettting one anyway.

Mine got ridgy cos some dunderhead of a previous keeper used a pressure wash. I now only use wire brushes, and there's a lovely texture developing.

When it's time to replace, I'm having a new deck laid in sections with press studs so that I can store it below when not in use.
