Hurray !! On Sunday (1st April) I arrived in Milford Haven after a two week delivery voyage from Ipswich with my (new to me) Moody 35 "Melanitta". I am looking forward to a nice summer of gentle cruising around Pembrokeshire and the Bristol channel.

Below is a pic of her when we arrived in Dale to get some much needed sleep before proceeding to Milford marina.

We're you in Penzance or Newlyn last week?

Saw you on the deepwater pontoon I think. We trundled down from Milford on Sunday about lunch time and put the Grumpy Uncle back on her mooring at Dale. Did a few laps of the bay with the kids aboard and had a very nice picnic in the sun on the beach......although I did lose the stone skimming challenge to my little nephew :(

I should be out sailing this weekend, so I hope to see some of you guys.

My last stop before Dale/Milford was Penzance. We stayed in Penzance for a day to wait for the strong northerly winds to reduce (a bit) before doing the long leg.

My route from Ipswich was
Sat 17th March Ipswich > Dover
18th March Dover > Brighton (visitors pontoons almost completely empty)
19th March Brighton > Portsmouth (Haslar marina, very long walk to the visitors section)

Back to work for a few days, then:
Sat 24th Haslar marina > Yarmouth (walk ashore pontoons all full and no water taxi !)
Sun 25th Yarmouth > Weymouth (Opening bridge not finished yet, so outer harbour rather full)
26th Weymouth > Dartmouth (Darthaven marina) (Glass and chrome automated pontoon gates with contactless smart cards to get on and off, very bling)
27th Dartmouth > Newton Ferrers
28th Newton Ferrers > Falmouth (visitors yacht haven)
29th Falmouth to Penzance (one visitors waiting bouy left over winter which we were grateful for whilst waiting to lock in).
Fri 30th Day in harbour worrying and listening to the wind howling in the rigging. HM was helpful printing out forecasts for me etc.
Sat 31st Departed Penzance about 09:30
Sun 1st Arrive Dale pontoon for a hours rest at 09:30, 11:25 locked into Milford.

With the obvious exception of the last leg, they were done in daylight (ish), so some early starts. We did have to motor a fair bit as the winds were often too light (apart from Penzance).

I've got an AIS transponder which for the receive is excellent and very helpful sailing wise, and provided much entertainment for my 23 year old newphew who missed his video game fixes. The Tx side was great for the family and friends to follow.

David.
