...and bigger boats were heaving to or turning back

This is all becoming rather acedemic as I have just discovered that the Netherlands Bottebank(sp? - bottlebank?) is full of gorgeous sweet steel boats, including a steel Trintella. Now that's what I can a proper boat. I can just hear the cries as I raft up alongside while striking my topsides thrice with a large mallet to indicate that I am operating astern propulsion.

The real question is what is the correct attire and facila hair to wear to a trial sail? I've tried a beard but looked to much like Sir Walter Raleigh, maybe the doublet and hose didn't help. I found my self trying on a Tilley hat earlier today but then I wondered if it was the famous hat that had been passed by an elephant three times. Is that in the IRPCS? When an elephant operates astern propulsion it must pass a Tilley hat 3 times?

Not sure whether to go for keen and shiny or moulding and mumbling.

I hate to admit it but I own both a Tilley Hat (non-elephant passed) and a full set of whiskers (beard to you non-service bods). Just go, buy the boat and sail. Netherlands is agreat place to sail, especially liked Sixhaven and the surrounding bars!!
