Anchour rodeand morning lines for marina berth for a Dufour 24

to get back to reality to attempt anchouring I will need aleadline and an actual chart .All the popular anchorages are quite full in the summer like the Islas Cíes for which you need to have advanced permits.Further into the rias there are lots of coves but many buoyed off for swimmers …..I doubt we will anchour a lot it’s mainly a seamanlike thing to have on a boat🙂

Anchor possession is simple - its a safety device. Being a safety device you don't compromise on quality. One day, hopefully never, you might need it in anger.

I confess - in decades of sailing I've never needed an anchor as a 'safety' device, but similarly I've never needed an LJ or LR in anger (as safety devices). I've never used flares nor floating strobe lights in anger either.

Have I been too cautious or has senility struck too soon. :)

Apologies to Wansworth for the drift.

If we are talking about safety now, then perhaps Wansy should realize a boat might sink. Perhaps he should remain tied up in the marina to enjoy the boating experience without risking going anywhere. He has mention he needs a lead line and charts. I thought he said the boat was full of stuff when he bought it. Must be all the wrong stuff.

There may well be a lead line buried but Idoubt it,the previous owner was too young, there are some electronic gismos.Three IKEA led strip that have rechargeable batteries which we can recharge whilst in the marina.zNot in stock today but there are chargers and quite long cables so lighting should be ok.

Not sure why you need a lead line. Just mark your rode and lower the anchor down - you will soon work out the depth and then how much extra you need to deploy to get whatever scope you desire.

Does you cruising ground of interest not have a guide defining the depths of recognised locations to anchor. Avoid such places at a weekend and restrict your ambitions to weekdays.

Not sure Galicia is ready for guides to anchorages maybe marinas.Like weekend yachtsmen the world over they anchor where every else does! Unless it’s in Patagonia.I don’t recall using a lead line in my impetuous youth I just chucked the anchor overboard .It will give me something to do ,investigatingnew places to anchor.
