All these anchor tests fail on a vital points. Getting on the boat. I have a CQR & that has a bar across the flukes. That is there, so I can step up from the pontoon, onto the bar then over the pulpit & on to the bow. I have done that hundreds of times in the 19 years I have owned the boat. But only anchored 5 times. So I regard the omission of "boat access" from an anchor test, as a major failing in the tests.
I have also used it to hit a lock wall (once) break a poorly sited electric box on a pontoon (twice) Hit a pontoon pile (once) Chip a piece of GRP out of a 6month old Halberg Rassey 57 (once) so I feel that collision effect is also another important item that every anchor should be graded for.
Perhaps, if updating testing, the relevant testers might develope suitable tests.![]()

I have spent years & invested a lot of money (repairs to 57ft HRs are expensive) collecting that data & if you think that you are getting it for free, then you have another think coming.‘it reads as if you are a prime candidate to establish the test protocols. May be as first up you should repeat your tests, the first rule of testing is they should be repeatable, and video the whole exercise. Many who have done this are worshipped.

I’ve found one! It’s similar to the one I found when snorkelling the other day.

I might have to remove the meta data? We went hoping to see whales. We just saw lots of swell and impressive breaking waves. The cliffs must be over 100’ high yet the water occasionally topped that!Re the anchor that you found, did you salvage it to use as a spare in an emergency?
Or is it still there? Might be good enough for a mooring for somebody local, or not really?
But there again, some say fishermen anchors don't hold well, so maybe not.
This photo would be a good candidate for a 'Whereizzit' competition?![]()

I think the forum has done that for you...I might have to remove the meta data?

You could always try anchoring with one of these boat access devices if your anchor doesn’t work? All these anchor tests fail on a vital points. Getting on the boat. Sorry but you are using the wrong type of anchor - the next generation anchors like Rocna / Spade etc have a better shaped foot step than your CQRAll these anchor tests fail on a vital points. And there was me thinking I’d started a whole new thread drift on the holding power of passerelles.Ah but....!
I suspect he moors 'Baltic style' with the bow in, hence standing on the brace of his CQR. But I might be wrong. Maybe he has a 'stern roller'.
The Balts, of course, have similar devices (still called a Passerelle?) to access their yachts when bow in, this one is more of a ladder

and certainly would not use the brace of the CQR - Because they set their anchor (which unusually might be a CQR) from the stern (hence stern roller)
