I've just taken delivery of a new Aquador 26C (LOA 27ft, displaces 3000kg)supplied without bow roller, anchor or windlass. Have any of you any advice re choice of anchor/rode/windlass etc?
I have a Jeanneau Leader 805 with a Quick remote controlled windlass which was orig made by Lewmar and is very good with chain and rope. Our boats are approx same size and weight and I use a 7.5 kg Bruce anchor which stow nicely in the locker and can hold the boat no problem also with a Maxum 2300 SCR on one side and a Maxum 1900 sc on the other for 4.5 hours off the north point of Herm, Alderney point where currents run quite fast.
Theres no doubt. You need chain, or at least 20 metres of chain and then maybe rope. If your thinking of electric windlass I'd go see the chandeler and get what ever anchor fits the bow roller. Chain needs to be calibrated chain not any old stuff. Buy all the lot together then no mistakes.
No one can force me to come here-----------

Thaks guys for the advice. I've been to the chandlers already and ordered myself a 7.5kg bruce with chain & warp rode just as you suggested.
I may be back with more questions again!
I have just taken delivery of a new 26DC, brought her back to Poole from Lymingtom last Wednesday. Seems the Finns don't anchor - preferring to tie up to rocks! My boat came with a 10kg bruce , 10mm chain and rope. I think the size of anchor and chain is a bit over the top for the boat and will be difficult to handle without a windlass or bow roller. I intend to try without both so as I can retain the nice lines at the bow and also leave the pulpit open for boarding.
How do you find the Aquador? I woud be interested in your views of the boat.
I take delivery of my Aquador 26C plus bow roller at the end of the month and I can't wait.PLease Aquador owners tell us what you think.
Soon we can start an owners club

How can you tell whether it is calibrated? I'm about to buy 25mtrs of 10mm galvanised and would like to know if it is. I did a google search and now understand why it is important that it is calibrated - never realised.
