Had a great weekend last weekend sitting on the peg off Mersea Stone on the Colne although slightly frustrated by the yachts that chose to anchor so close overnight. At one point I had two vessels three boat lengths both to port and starboard. There was so much room fore and aft of me why do people have to come so close?

i had planned to be there too but decided the wind was too good to miss so went around the eagle & sailed back to the Orwell @ great speed :D

Last year, while anchored at Stone Point 2 idiots in a Southerly motored quietly to a position directly upwind and about 50 ft away, and dropped anchor. They ended up across our bows, with their chain across ours.

With everyone fending off, all I could do was to let all of our warp out, cut the bitter end, pass the line under their chain then re attach to our boat.

Fortunately it wasn't that windy that I couldn't keep the line under control, otherwise they would have had an extra bill.

Then they quietly wind in their anchor, and chug off round the corner, with not a word of apology.

Regards

Ian
