Anchorages Atlantic coast - France/Spain/Portugal

In or near Gijon, affordable alternatives are:

*Marina Yates on the south wall of El Musel (http://www.marinayates.es/)
*Anchored in the outer harbour of Candas -not in northerlies or easterlies
*Anchored behind the breakwater just north or Luanco - not in easterlies
*In the private marina in Aviles (lovely town, and convenient trains to Oviedo)

A few days already in A Coruna. We've been advised that we can anchor off the new marina behind the breakwater. But - surprise, surprise! Sign "no anchoring" welcomes us there!
Nice anchorage in Mera (bay opposite from Marina). Lovely place. Bus to A Coruna takes 25min and it cost only 1.20 euros!

N Spain

Ortigueria. Between Vivaro and Ceideria. Once over the bar you enter a lovely estuary and when you reach the town there is a superb, newly dredged (2010) and refitted marina. Perfect shelter. Town is great. You can anchor in the river below the town.

We have just been talking to Peter, the marina manager at Muros in the Ria's of Spain. Very friendly and speaks excellent English

It looks as though they are going to start charging in this marina from as early as next week.

There are no showers, toilets or wi fi and the water and power is going to be connected in the next week.

In the near future they are going to add a lot more pontoons and various facilities will be built including the shower block.

At the moment provisional charges look like about 16 euros for a boat between 12 and 14m but half that whilst the electricity and water are not connected.

There is no fuel at the marina bu the town is very friendly and well worth visiting.
