Anchorage of West Mersea & Swin Spitway

Thanks for the insight in to the names tillergirl and for the offer on the book johnalison. I have read it and have I think two copies (if it's the one I'm thinking of) and an edition with a forward by Dick Durham and an earlier one both back at base camp - can't remember much (except that I enjoyed it) shall have to read it again.

Didn't realise the Barrier Wall was an actual 'b---dy' great visible wall till I saw it, had been under the impression it was underwater.
If it didn't stick out abovevthe highest tide, the hotter discharged water would just fow over the top to get sucked back in again, reducing the output of the power station. A 300 MW thermal power plant needs to reject 600 MW or more of heat to operate.

Peter.

I understand the need to discharge heat, but it always sounds wasteful to me, though I can see that recovering heat from such a low level is not easy or useful. Perhaps someone in Bradwell could do the laundry for most of Essex?

You've got to remember in the 60's nobody thought about energy conservation and also not much about H & S. My late neighbour used to bring round the workers and suffered from the asbestos
