I wish to fit an electric horizontal anchor windlass. The Lofrans Cayman is a possibility, but it is rather large for my foredeck.
Another option is the Lewmar Pro, but I know nothing of its reputation.
I would be grateful to hear from anyone with a Lewmar Pro
(good or bad), or any other horizontal windlass recommendations.
The boat is a 9mtr Catalac (catamaran) displacement about 4.75 tons. Cruising ground is the Med. Happy to change the rode to suit the new windlass.

thanks in anticipation.

we have a 9mtr catalac we have fitted a lofrans clipper 1000, we use 10mm chain 40 mtr, with warp 60mtr yes a bit heavy some may say that is overkill but it works for us & it has held us well in a 7-8 . we too are in the med cruising where are you PM me if you like

Thanks for the reply. Did you mean the Masterwinch Clipper?
Which could be an option. Although I prefer to keep the motor above deck.

Hi Sir
We have a cayman 88, bulletproof and superb, not overly large.. better with more than less me thinks. We use 65mm of 10mm 316 stainless chain and a 25kg Delta as bower. we have a further 100 mtrs of 16mm nylon 4 strand.
'Tis is a super product.

hi yes the masterwinch it's bit of a lump with a top drum, it sits well on the foredeck & mounted just aft of the cleat which i moved over a couple of inches this all then comes inline with the double bow roller. the chain & warp drops down into the same chain locker however due to the amount of chain etc i help feed it down. the motor does not cause any probs being inside the locker & it is protected from to weather. I know another owner of catalac who leads his chain accross into one of the big lockers. had thought of that but decided not a good solution mine works fine for me. pm if you want more info

I have recently bought an "Anchorwinch", from soemone overr on ebay. I had met him previously at LIBS when he was selling asmall range of windlasses as agent for Anchorwinch and an Australian company, but egency now gone to another company and he is selling off old stock from his garage. I know this to be true as I visited him to collect said anchorwinch. Needless to say prices are very competetive!

Regards
