My Lofrans Kobra anchor windlass works ok letting chain down, but not up. No response of any kind. The foot switches seem fine, with 12.4v across the contacts. All connections seem ok, but cant access the motor without major disassembly. I have checked the fuse (OK) and changed it anyway. I think that it must be the Lofrans Control Box, but I don't know how to check it. Advice very welcome as advancing age makes manual retrieval a daunting prospect.

Must be the season for windlass problems ☹️. Just had much the same with ours. Turned out to be the power supply cables had overheated and melted the chocolate block connecting them to the control box. Easy to get at on our boat and fix. Otherwise an interim fix could be to swap the connections for up and down, providing you don't need to motor the anchor out.

Thanks guys, missed the tide but had an interesting learning experience all afternoon.
It is definitely the Lofrans Control box, aka Reversing Solenoid, which is partially knackered, inso far as it works one way only. I reversed the connections, (as suggested by Blush 2 )so now at least it can lift the anchor, and gravity can take it down. I have ordered a new replacement, so will be ok in a day or two.
