Anchor windlass CB

Just about to fit my new anchor windlass. the cable run is about 6m. does it matter which end of the cable the Contact breaker goes? Right at the beginning near the busbar or at the other end next to the windlass. Both quite handy .

CB should be nearest the battery is the most common practice. It protects the cable not the windlass.

The battery 'end' is also, commonly, clean and dry. The windlass end tends to become grotty (as does anything else close by)

All our CBs are in a line next to each other - and each is clearly labelled.

It does indeed go closest to the battery to protect the cable, but this is one case where the breaker also protects the windlass from overload, so fit the correct rating, as specified by the windlass manufacturer.
