Anyone advise me where to buy w/proof (contactor/solenoid/relay) box 12v 1000w for electric windlass, also the foot switches. Cornwall area would be handy.

For my last boat I used a box from RS with a rubber seal around the box edge. I also found some IP 68 rated momentary push buttons with rubber covers. Once everything was mounted a gave the lot a generous coating of WD40 to keep the moisture at bay, and after never had solenoid trouble again with the windlass.

Instead of foot control buttons I bought infra red winch controllers for off-road vehicles. Easy to fit, cheap (from ebay) and they do a first class job. Been in regular use for three years and they work from any position on the boat.

You first need to check what sort of windlass contactor you need. Some windlasses have a 2-wire motor; some have a 3-wire motor. They use different types of contactors.
