How often do you check the connection ?
Personally I have put some copper wire ( 2mm sq ) to tie the eye bolt of the connector to stop it turning .

Any body else tied the eye bolt ?

Anyone heard about this, a yacht called "Calamaba" ran aground in Sardinia. The mishap apparently happened last weekend and involved this Riva 85 Opera model. The owner and wife with a few guests were said to be aboard at the time. The yacht ended up on rocks overnight and though there was visible damage below the waterline, no pollution or major environmental damage happened. The yacht was swiftly removed from the rocks according to local reports. The reason for the yacht hitting rocks isn't conclusive as yet though the reason floating around is that the boat may have snapped anchor while they were asleep .

Good point. The Pershing next to us in Antibes lost its anchor the other day whilst recovering it from the seabed. Luckily it happened then and not whilst they were anchored overnight. Always good advice to check the connection between the chain and the anchor regularly especially if its a swivel which in my experience can fatigue after a few seasons

Yup , agree having seen those pics looks like a running grounding .
Personally I ,am always ultra cautious near the shore in the Med relying on E charts only .Call me old fashioned I like a paper unfolded and sat under its screen on top of the cockpit door when approaching new to me anchorage’s and read the guide .
Rocks to me seem pretty high ,well visible in daylight?

We spent a season in that area and I found no major electronic chart anomalies. Its a very popular cruising area and thats a popular anchorage. I suspect it was just a navigational error by the skipper, probably at night by the sound of it
