In previous 12m sailing boats I have had a swivel connector between chain and anchor. Now have a 9m motor boat with a self storing anchor that is connected by shackle only and gets stuck when coming at the wrong angle.

Now looking at a swivel connection but see one can get effectively a double swivel anchor connector from Absolute Industrial which looks good. Anyone got a view on this versus a straight swivel connector?

We've just fitted an Osculato cranked swivel to a friends boat - not tested yet but looks good - automatically rotates the anchor so it's aligned correctly for stowing. But not cheap...

I saw one today at Cobbs Quay chandlery and it was £51 versus circa £25 for double swivel type. The owner rated them.

Interested in this.

My old boat had a Kong swivel, and the anchor always came up the right way round without fail, now we have a new boat and it has a swivel, but I don't know what type, but 50% of the time the anchor comes up the wrong way round.

I had a look online to order an osculati banana type swivel, but they were horrendously expensive.

So where is a good place to order one online?

I must admit I couldn't believe the cost of the oscilati banana type but there are also many others even more expensive. The Kong swivel type ain't cheap.

I have one and it is excellent. My anchor regularly came up the wrong way and this solves the issue, you just need to pause picking up sometimes when the swivel is on the roller to allow to twist the anchor round to the correct position.

This is the "Twist" - I think it is actually the Osculato cranked swivel but was sold to me as "The Twist"
They make two sizes - this is the large one.

And this is it working

The Twist Anchor Swivel.avi

We changed from that Delta to a bigger Rocna anchor with thicker chain.
I don't use a swivel at all now.
We have to be bold and hoist the anchor right up to the roller.
But as soon as it gets pulled against the roller, the Rocna is weighted such that it twists itself anyway without a swivel.
But the Twist definitely worked well on the old Delta anchor

You could try one of these, work well and easily made with a few tools, use 3 links to anchor shank
