Anchor oil lamp goes out

Not sure if this is same stuff, no label, the guy went out the back ond came back with the bottle in the pic a few minutes later. Shop was like something from a forties film, not sure they did poncey, loose grass seed and nuts and bolts wrapped in an old newspaper they did do however. Anyway, seems to work fine in my oil lamps , even flame and no soot so I'm happy enough. Owner showed me a barometer and sextant in his office (complete with typewriter! when did you last see one of those?) from sailing ship based here (terceria, azores) in 19th century. Great shop!

I'll leave it overnight to see if it's still on the go in the morning

Did it last the night?

Good!

Next job is to clean it up and give it a polish.

Are you sure you don't want a nice, very shiney, electric one?

You've got more chance of getting to see the genie than I have to get Conachair to let me have his light. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had a similar problem and tried allsorts to fix it, without success. Until - I tried a different fuel. I had been using 'lamp oil' which I thought would be OK. I changed to bog standard paraffin and the problem disappeared. Allan

Re: Anchor oil lamp wanted

Now that the Committee has sorted the problem can anyone suggest a source for a new one (galvanised would do) without paying Den Haan's prices?
