At the risk of re kindling the anchor light debate I just thought I'd mention these on the forum. Bought them at Wilko last week for £2 for 2 - i was greedy and bought four of them. They're on offer this week apparently.
The pins are exactly the right spacing for a chocolate block connection. Seem pretty bright when plugged into cigar lighter on the car.
I removed the incandescent lamp holder from my hang up anchor light and fitted one inside. Very easy and simple. Seems brighter than the original to me.
They're encapsulated in a silicone type substance so presumably they are reasonably weather resistance as well.
Got to be worth a punt at a £1 each.

What are "these " ?

You're right Vic - leds all the way round - 360 deg. coverage on these. Can't knock them for a quid each even if i only use them for general deck lighting.

Maybe it was a local deal then. Must admit i didn't ask anyone if it was in all branches but the promotion looked "prepared" with notices and "splash" type signs on the rack. I'm going back in in the next couple of days to get a couple more and i'll ask.

Just like the one I've just fitted in my kitchen to replace a 10w halogen under cabinet light. I actually bought a couple, Philips, from Screwfix. Seems brighter and does not emit any heat, unlike the Halogen which managed to practically destroy the fitting.
Also have a similar one in my anchor light which I hang in the fore triangle.
