I have just bought an automatic anchor light, the type that plugs into a cig. lighter socket and draws very little power. It came with two bulbs. The less powerful of the two works as expected but the other flashes rapidly. Is this normal, and why two different bulbs in the first place?

This lamp turns on as daylight fades: when it first produce light, the internal reflections shove the sensor back over the threshold light intensity, and turn it off again: so it blinks for a short while until the daylight level drops a bit further. By wraping it in a adrk cloth, you can play with it!

Sorry but can't find flashing white light under recognised distress signals, unless it's a very clever bulb programmed to flash /...---.../
