My GPS like many has an anchor drag alarm. However, the alarm is so quiet I can only just hear it if I'm at the wrong end of the boat - it's not that big either.

Anyone know of a nice little gadget that connects to the NMEA out and screams nice and loudly when the anchore drags?

If you drag regularly enough to need an electronic alarm maybe step no 1 might be to review anchor gear/techniques?

Seriously though the alarm distance would have to be set big enough to allow for the full swinging circle plus a bit extra for GPS error, not much help in a tight anchorage for sure.

Never miss an oppurtunity for a bit of advertising, eh? They tell me the anchors are now cheaper, being made in Tunisia, how much cheaper? I'm still interested in a big one.

Some GPS receivers (eg Garmin) have a provivion for an external alarm which you can make as loud as you can stand! A lorry reversing alarm would do nicely.

No problem with my anchor or technique - once in and checked it rarely drags. Since the GPS has the facility it prompted me to look for a better one as a backup.
