A truck, I shd think! What's latest? Issit safely moored in LYH now? Did it make the deck cargo journey ok? Are you happy with it? What pontoon in LYH (though I imagine it will be easy to spot!). Full report plse!
Give it a week or two to look nice and for the defects to be sorted. She's the big lump in the middle - but not doubling up as the dredger barge - yet. C18 I'll be back down on Monday to make peoples lives miserable, manyana imparts too great a sense of urgency with the contractors.
You are right, as your lordship always is. I was muddling those new fangled metric measurements with the imperial ones I still use. Its 200 metres or 300 feet per anchor, a 50kg Bruce and a 27kg CQR
Are u sure u need the two anchors with 100metres? We have just one, with 100metres . Wouldn't 1 anchor with 150 metres be axshully better that two x 100metres?
Use the other anchor for if the other ever get irretrievably er irretrievable, snip it off, still got another anchor on 100metres plus?
Also, other anchor quite good as kedge for stern? er needing some chain, ahem, obviously. But 100m chain not a small weight to haul around, imho, unless massive wordgirdling voyage. Not needed for lymington, alum bay, france, spain with loads of marinas and lots of shallow anchorages.
Your lordship continues to make valid points as your lordship always makes valid points. The defendant in this case finds that he has two chain lockers, he could no doubt knock a hole through the dividing partition and follow your lordships excellent advice but he was in any case thinking of sticking 50 metres of anchorbraid on the end of each chain as some bright spark has fitted the gypsies with a capstan on top (and a bow roller for it - designed mainly to handle those filthy ropes that you Med. types leave lying around so that I can secure the boat afte having reversed into a space that wasn't big enough for a Mini car). And since the chain and anchors are included in the price which I have already forked out, I want my pound of flesh. And I already have a small Danforth type kedge with a dinky little chain and length of rope that was a spare kedge in some previous life. Its too big for the tender (coming next week) and too small to be any use on the 64. And yes I did take on 8 tons of fuel the other day and I really don't know why the harbour master had to come all the way over to point out the quarter of a gallon that had come out of a breather tube had formed a slick 200 yards upriver when the tide was going out.
It will sit beautifully and solid on the water, but praps with slightly less (or loads) fuel, water and chainery, the boat wd go a bit quicker? Or at least less juice in going same speed? All imho. Course, for monster trip, fill it oop.
Anyway, never mind all this, have yer bin for a blast and haveyer got any piccies? Okay, tell us a fuller story of the getting boat to Lymington.
John I'll be in Lym this w/e but only Saturday so I'll stop by and have a look if that's ok. You sed b4 you will not be around, but will mr captain be there? Otherwise I'll just peer thru the windows!
No. no and no. I am just the idiot who drives the cars to make sure that everyone else can get back to where they came from and as for pics well I THINK I know which laptop case has my old camera in it - I better charge it up. I reckon early next month when all the kit is on and we have 3 days of acceptance trials planned, then we can compare spotted cats and trawler yachts.
It is obvious that we will have to carry out the gin and tonic test. On the Aleutian we can poodle along at 12-22kts. drinking G&T's and spilling not a drop. Whereas the Leopard goes like a bat out of hell and no-one can get a glass to their lips. OK, you are moored up a couple of hours earlier and have grabbed the best table but we arrived pissed, showered and unbruised.
... this one isn't 'cos I haven't given him a CC yet. I spend the money and he just tells me what to spend it on. I have already handed out the password to those gentlemen who may cross my decks.
Have you tried griffchains.co.uk ? They supply direct for galvanised chain in standard lengths or whatever length you reg=quire, but not sur eif the do calibrated chain - you'll have to check.
