Anchor chain dealers

Very comprehensive thanks all. Got what I wanted in a clearance at Jimmy Greens even with delivery 1/2 the price of local and made in Italy...I hope.

Lofrans, who recently, within the last 5 years started to promote and sell their 'own' chain source that same chain from China. I think it would be a fairly safe bet that both Lewmar and Plastimo source their chain from China, CMP make their chain (they say its their factory) in China.

Chain made for the American market will be marked with its nominal strength, its 'G'number and a mark indicating the manufacturer, 'C' for Campbell, A for ACCO aka Peerless, and P for.... Peerless. CMP for CMP etc. Most US made chain can also be marked with USA or US. Historically Chinese chain was not marked, at all - but Lofrans chain was marked with a L and Titan chain in Australia (not to be confused with Titan chain from CMP) is marked T and the G number.

I do believe it's time for a rip-roaring argument, in here, about the best seagoing single malt.

Let me throw my hat in the ring by proferring Lagavulin 16.

I'm an ignorant foreigner - to what does the '16' refer? - if its the year of distillation - you drink young malts :)

On a broader front and to fuel a warmer rip roaring argument - are replies limited to Scots Scotch or can the preferred product be derived from Tasmania, Japan or even Taiwan - all of whom produce 'malt whisky'.

I hear tell that moderators might need samples to restore their spirits, which is tough as I'm sure they are not allowed to accept gifts.....

Seem to be a few types of Lagavulin 16. Cheap at £77 or expensive at £400 !

No doubt @zoidberg was referring to the expensive ............

Reverting to chain - how many ask to see a test certificate before they buy.

I'd like to see 2 certificates - one from the manufacturer and one from the retailer. As chain life is a function of gal thickness I'd also like to see some measure of gal thickness - but that's a bit of a pipe dream (except that coating thickness meters are really not expensive).
