I have just sold my boat using Ancasta Yacht Brokers and it has been a 100% good experience.

The boat was in a place called Port Balis about an hours drive from Barcelona where the brokers are based. To compound the problem I live in Ronda & Marbella which are are a flight or days driving away.

Ancasta visited the boat on many occasions in order to resolve issues as well as to do viewings.

Within a couple of weeks of registering with them I had two offers and more viewings in the pipe line. They organised the haul out survey, sea trial and putting her back on her mooring. Ancasta negotiated between my very nice purchasers and myself in a polite and courteous way and I ended up with a deal that I felt was totally fair to both parties.

I had previously had the boat with one of the mass franchise UK brokers, also with a base in Barcelona, and although their commission rate was half that of Ancasta it was very much a case of pay peanuts get monkeys!

For them to do viewings was a major deal as they did not want to drive to the boat and on several occasions passed the viewings onto a local Port Balis broker who spoke no English. They got an offer on the boat, used a company in Barcelona that were not proper surveyors to do a pre purchase inspection that was factually inaccurate on several issues. the subsequent negotiations were most unpleasant resulting in my walking away from the deal.

i write this with no commercial connection with Ancasta other than as a satisfied customer and as perhaps a word of warning about some franchise yacht brokers who are not always on top of their game

Had our boat for sale with the local part of a broker franchise for 6 months without so much as a call. Even the enquiries that we passed to him disappeared.

Put it on brokerage with ancasta at Plymouth and sold for almost asking within a month!
Sian and Christian were wonderful and I could not have asked for more.
For a change I had no qualms about paying their commission , they had earned it!

Glad you had a good experience. Ancasta is also a franchise, so it really helps others if you include the office and person you've dealt with in your praise.

I've only met the Brighton chap (Mike Wedge) briefly and never sold a boat through him, but can attest to his excellent boat maneuvering skills :encouragement: - his sales berths are right outside the Master Mariner pub.

There's nothing quite like a berth in front of the Clubhouse bar or a popular pub to encourage good boat-handling skills....

Sold my last boat through Ancasta ie Mike at Brighton, I was a 2 boat man and needed to shift the old boat a 2008 38 Bav , so I could set off on this World Voyage , bit of a tall order as there are so many around , they did the job brilliantly and would go back again , his boat handling skills are legendary ....
