An unexpected congratulation

Different type cruising and people I guess .
it's nothing unusual for us to go over to another boat at anchor and say Hi ,
invited them over for drinks , and not always Brits or seeing a dinghy turn up offending the same hospitality ,
When I was based back in the UK we had the same berth in Suffolk yacht harbor for 12 years and other then the guy in the next berth to me I never got to know any one by name and not for not trying , people would just nod there head as you said good morning and if you tried to strike up a conversation, it was like a one word reply job .
Any liveaboard winter stop over marina we stayed in Within days people would come along and introduce them self Friendship struck up in days.
Which last for years I. Many cases .
If We added up the people we know on the cruising circuit if would amount to a few hundred easily from right across The world .
I guess the difference is meeting and getting to Know people is all part of cruising .
We found the hardest people to get to know our are are only sailor for back home if there just newbies on the cruising scene , although once you breaks the ice they more relax .

Miss-informed on heated floor. Premier take on social attitudes amused me: Brighton has some awful local radio station playing playing pop music

During the next day we had some conversation and I told the family aboard "Strumpet " that First Mate and I were celebrating our Golden Wedding anniversary in Cherbourg

I think we should be congratulating the two of you on reaching your golden anniversary :encouragement:
