Morning,

Looking for an inexpensive way to transport my Centaur from Anglesey to Warrington by road. I say inexpensive rather than cheep as I would rather have a Hiab to lift at both ends and insurance in case she falls off. Also would prefer a recommendation of someone who will turn up on the right day etc.

Thanks,

T

Could you not sail her round and be lifted out by Fiddlers Ferry Boat Yard . Speak to Mike Hughes the harbour master he's a font of knowledge on 01925 727519 or 07876 767484. He keeps his boat in the Straits and does the journey twice a year.

Sail it or pay someone to sail it around. Much less problematic than road transportation. It would be a nice weekend sail.

Mike is very helpful and has competitively priced crane on site. I use to over-winter at Fiddlers when sailing out of Beaumaris.

Thanks - busted head gasket and VERY dodgy standing rigging, without the time to travel there every weekend to fix her. I could maybe live without one or the other for the trip, but not both and certainly not up the Mersey. I will be sailing her out again though.

Thanks

May still be worth a chat with Mike as you are probably going to have to pay for a two way trip for the vehicle and driver and they may be cheaper coming from an inland location to pick you up rather than the reverse . Also there may be a number of specialist hauliers in the Warrington area given the amount of canal traffic around there.

The man I recommended is in Conwy, between Anglesey and Warrington. He could well schedule the delivery to go on to somewhere else after Warrington.

So is anywhere along the A55/ M56 corridor and couldn't they all have a return load . My experience of crane hire for construction is they are generally cheaper inland - more work and less down time to pay for . Got shares ;) :)
