an awkward dilemma

coding

Thanks for the info - I may indeed find a chat helpful but I don't think any coding applies -like many skippers, this one is offering 'sailing opportunities' without reward (except vittling) to get crew to assist with passages. No business; just 'pleasure'. In part this is a matter of attitude. Knowing other crew were getting aboard, I offered to 'buy-the-boat' a dan-buoy (as a contribution to costs) which I think is fairly basic for an extended offshore passage. The skipper said he wouldn't have one on his boat -which says it all really.. The hypothetical question behind my dilemma is what happens when a 'friend-of-a-friend' rings up a non-sailing family and offers an adventure sailing a yacht, 'no experience needed'. Many young people will jump at the chance. I know my way around a boat, but it was only after casting off that an LED headlight was strapped to the stern and I noticed the port spreader waggling back and forth in the breeze.
