Would you have their courage? I'm asking myself that...

Shipwrecked adventurers ate sharks to survive 118 days in the Pacific

I read the book some years back, v good. Loved it that they set off from Moody's Yard in the Hamble. Kind of surreal that an adventure of that scale would start there. (Although a vast number of global sailing adventures must start from there.)

Steven Callahan's book was also a good read.

Unfortunately I don't have any of their resourcefulness, knowledge, ingenuity or strength of character. Mind you, I *would* have an EPIRB or two so I'd be fine.

(Not sure why why a 50yo story would be worth printing in today's edition of the Mail.)

In my year off between school and Uni I flew out to Florida in Feb 1981 to join an Ocean 71 for a delivery trip from Fort Lauderdale to Kos.

My cousin thoughtfully gave me a copy of the Baileys’ book “117 days adrift” to read on the plane 😂

…and then the in-flight movie was “Raise the Titanic”.
