Passing question for a Sunday afternoon.

The meter measures current in and current out and gives net status, ok, but were do they get the initial capacity from to give a battery percentage remaining ?

On mine, having programmed the battery capacity, one does a kind of reset to tell the thing the batteries are at a fully charged state (when they are) and it uses that reference until you do another "reset". It works pretty well.

this one of the problems they don`t know the initial capacity they only know the battery voltage at the present time. the only way to calculate the battery capacity due to its age,and life(abuse or use) is by fully charging the battery ie until the charge current will not drop anymore and batt voltage 14.7v, and then over a 20 hour period at a constant rate of discharge before the voltage falls below 10.5v then you calculate the battery capacity.

Re: amphour meters lead/acid

Glorified system near enough for lead acid batteries, wait until some clot tries to fit a ni-cad
