America's Cup

Re: £100 poxy million

Ahem...... yes so, this is obviously a British campaign as we've barely got bloody started and already the infighting begins.

I am confident that the status of our Financial Directors tackle is not likely to affect his ability to pull it off.

So Mr Clayton..... the FD is currently schmoozing with the PM. If you would like to take the subject up with him upon his return, I am sure we could discuss a knighthood or some similar discompensation as needed....

Re: £100 poxy million

I wonder who is sponsoring the South African boat. I have not been taking much notice. I am a little afraid to look. It might all end in tears a bit like zola bud tripping the american in the olympics. I can just see it slicing some favourite in two.

Ready made boat

Bit old but we could use it as a trial boat or we could use it for day charter trips to raise a few bob for the kitty a la Scum sail

Re: £100 poxy million

There was a feature on Sky Sport about there SA challenge, crew is fully multi-racial, and backed by the Government, a shipping firm, and any poor sod that the chap running it can trap in a corner.

Seamed a lot more support from there leaders than Blair would give.

Re: America\'s Cup

Who is interested anyway? The Americas cup is cracked up by the press as the F1 of sailing.

!/It is match racing, hands up anyone who has ever done any, in any kind of boat. I took up sailing in 1965; I have never match raced.

2/ It is done in ludicrously expensive boats of individual designs; match racing should be done in ONE DESIGN boats. The boats are of no further use.

3/ Ages ago there was an appeal for contributions for a UK challenge. The appeal went on to say that £££ woulld buy team colour keyed gear for a gorilla, when the same amount of £££ would cover my costs for the OK I had for several open meetings, and with a young family. Did I contribute??

Americas Cup, yuk.
