Apparently the new boat will be a monohull, no keel, two canting foils.
Wonder if Seajet is aware, will make interesting modification when added to an A22.

Maybe, but they interviewed Ben Ainslie who explained the concept with computer animation.

Thanks for posting.

Fine for folks who like it but dunny work for me.

None of us are ever going to have a boat set up like that. So it's a form of sailing that we
won't be able to identify with hence lack of any interest.

Can definitely see foils making there way into amateur racing though. Should be fun.

Will possibly be common place in a few years.
Lack of a keel seems to have been gaining favour quite rapidly recently, not sure if as intentional as AC though.

Not really, Ben Ainslie spoke over the top of the animation that the Kiwis released last year. Unfortunately, the Beeb played the technical bit of the animation showing foil configs and some science, rather than the next bit which was quite a nice visualisation of two boats racing showing tacks and gybes and would have meant a whole lot more to 99% of the veiwers...

Not sure that " Gaining favour" is exactly the appropriate term. Well not as far as the owners were concerned anyway
