After having to move my boat to a new pontoon, I thought I would collect my Bumper Dock Fender at a later date.
I went this weekend to move it, and it was gone! amazing, what sad person needs to steal a £45 dock fender.

I agree, but I am also aware that there are semi honest people (vultures) who wait until someting looks unwanted and think its fair game. I think I would have unbolted it on leaving.

Sad isnt it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

They\'re out there!

A few years ago I had my boat in the shed at Hayling Yacht Company, which was locked at night. I needed to remove the fuel tank and drained it into a 5-gallon container, which I put directly below the hull.

The container and diesel were stolen within 24 hours.

A notice inviting the culprit to return it was, not surprisingly, ignored.

I know how you feel. 1995 - Thames and Kennet Marina; our cruiser on the hard. My tin of anti-foul, half used, left under the boat (like many other boats). Returned to put the second coat on; the tin was there - empty. David Sherrif let me put a big sign up warning others that there was a thief amongst us (only berth holders had access). I thought there a was a code of respect between us - I was sadly let down that day and I hope the guy who nicked it dick drops off.

Probably the same person that went on my boat and stole fender socks. Not fenders, just the socks. Pinch the lot I can understand, but just the socks........??????????

Fender socks often work themselves off in rough weather, so you may not have been a victim of theft...

And I'm sorry to say, in relation to the first post, that I get very annoyed by people who leave dock gear in awkward places on berths - when I move to a new permanent berth I always clear any detritus away... Did you check with the new berth-holder that he hadn't removed it?

You are not alone
2 dock fenders the same type newly installed J leg in Premier Gosport Marina.
Questioned if removed by staff, sorry no, so some very sad person has stolen them
What a sad sad world we live in

It's a good idea to put the vessels name on them, I agree we shouldn't have too but lets face it we only think it's a perfect world.

We all know that there are Sh#ts about.

My friend has had his 18month old engine nicked of his boat this winter and the really annoying part of this is they have caused quite a lot of damage in doing so.

Sorry to hear this but it could have been a lot worse!
