The other day I was googling the thames with google maps and decided to zoom in a follow the river west for some time. I could not believe the amount of boats and private jetties along the way. So many clubs and marinas also. Literally on your back door step. Very envious!

I am aware there was bad flooding this year which was truly awful to watch on the news but in your opinion what are the pros and cons of living along this stretch of water

The big pro is that it is fantastic to have your boat at the bottom of your garden. Then you have the great scenery. The ability to easily meet up with other boaters. Going through London is a great adventure. And in the non tidal bit.... You can have a beer ;)

The con? I am writing this from my rental house as our house was flooded.

I'm afraid I took the thread to mean is the Thames a good place to be a liveaboard.
I'm afraid to say my answer and approach has to be "no" - unless the boat is on an approved mooring with access to proper facilities, that means all aspects of waste disposal and fresh water.

If it's a good place to go boating - then yes.

The thread is just a general observation. I found it very interesting even just googling along the river. We dont have anything like that over here. Maybe just part of the Shannon. Mainly all coastal Marinas.
