AM37 Aston Martin & Mercruiser

I see that the AM37 is powered by Mercruiser, petrol and diesels. I know that Mercruiser diesels are not widely admired on this forum.

Any thoughts?

Bit of a thin connection. I don't think they are putting Mercruiser diesels in Aston Martins yet.

I wonder if they looked at the choices and thought, Volvo.......we cant put a volvo engine in an Aston! We need something not connected to any other car manufacturer. The Mercury name was probably thought of as being a bit more exciting, what with their race pedigree stuff, than Yanmar.

Why, what other powering choices did they have?
The only engines which are really appropriate for a boat like that, i.e. 500+ hp petrol big blocks, are not available from VP.
One alternative which could have given a true touch of exclusivity to the thing is the Ilmor MV10, but it would have taken some serious guts...
