Am I wrong?

Going back to the original question, you might want to give it a bit more thought Byron :)

As stated before, there are some very nice NB's with very nice owners, as I guess you charge by length for your moorings you are onto a winner. Another plus side for you is that they sit low to the bankside, so the view from your house could be an improvement over half a dozen fly bridges and canopies

Yet another detail you've got wrong -
Registration fees are based on the area of a boat. See here:-
https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...ication-for-registration-of-a-launch-non-hire

So a short fat boat could pay the same as a long thin one.
It's only short term registrations that pay only on length.

Thanks for that. The point I was making is that NB's take up a huge amount of space on public moorings, as they are very long and thin. Or did I get that wrong?

Last year we moored on a river visitor pontoon next to three narrowboats.
We wanted shore power and the owner of one narrowboat owner offered to move to let us nearer the electricity bollard. The others we very nice people too.
I have met some very nice folk on narrowboats.
I have met other narrowboat owners who have a deep hatred of 'plastics'. I don't know why. Once we moored next to a narrowboat and the owner was so offended he made smoke from his wood burner to make us move - I am sure it was deliberate.
I have also received abuse from narrowboat owners when we ventured onto a canal in a 25ft sports cruiser (at tickover speed). I have also received abuse from narrowboat owners who are passing through a tidal river.
Up here on c&rt water the license fee is according to length only so the narrowboats pay accordingly more .
Regardless of the license fee calculation - Why should anyone complain if any licensed boat is moored and not abusing the rules regarding the period of stay?

Why cant owners of different types of boat be tolerant or indeed appreciative of other types of boat ? I currently have a flybridge GRP boat by the way. Or is that a 'gin palace', 'splitter' or 'tent top'.

A mooring/marina owner may decide whatever they wish . Our marina has a few narrowboats, dutch barges and sail boats but by a large margin the boats are mostly motor cruisers of various types and sizes. There is a friendly feel to the place.
