Our hull is really difficult having a lot of spaces easily filled up with undesirable water. I´ve had a lot of boats before this Bavaria and they all permitted the water to leap to the lowest point for bilging.

Now - I have been doing a lot of drying up jobs with cups and cloths for 2 summers. Have looked for a good handheld electric DC pump but did not find anything. Before I build one ...... Anybody out there knowing a product + having the kindness to let me know?

I have had a problem getting rid of diesel form all the little pockets that held it, following a leaking tank. I bought one of those ball shaped oil changing pumps. About £36. Work’s really well, has a nice wire reinforced tube to fit in corners and holes, 5 or 6 pumps and it sucks an area dry in no time. Then you can use it for your oil change too.

If you have a shower on board, try this......
I have an extension hose that clips onto the pump that empties the shower tray. It is long enough to reach everywhere in the boat so I get an additional bilge pump that can reach into every crevice in the floor pan for the price of a couple of meters of hose.

Oh you know -- some coming from careless showering, some from who knows where, some 1½ gallon will never be bilged due to the fact that both my el and hand bilge does not transport air. Also in very hard weather people are wet and transport maybe 1/5 gallon down every time they go inside.

Thanks Gardenshed
I do have that pump. I might make an extra Tee like you suggest!!
Also -- I have found this impeller pump to be connected to a drill machine -- the same idea almost!!
