For all I know, the whole world is alert to this one, but just in case it's news....My anchor found an immovable chunk of iron in about 5 metres, roughly on a line between the eastern Long Rock (as kindly marked by a yellow can buoy) and the foot of the chairlift. If memory serves, more precise transits are the green cone on the end of the little pier in line with the inshore white upright of the chairlift base station, and only the top right corner of the lighthouse's red band visible.

did the same myself last year, spent an hour sawing through my chain so not to lose that as well as the anchor ( later recovered by divers ) we always go inside of the jetty now where you can watch the anchor hit the sand.

The obstructing by the way is an old jetty we found some old photos of Allum with the jetty still standing

I thought the old pier was to the north of the chairlift base. The chunk I found is well to the south, and a fair way from the beach.

Why not use the tripping line to recover the anchor?

I dont know whether its the same chunk but we found something similar in the same position early this season. We had terrible difficulty clearing it from the anchor and it was only with help from some people on another boat and another line that we managed to unhook it. I have to say that I dont think a tripping line would have helped as our anchor was embedded in it
