Alu or SS for a new deck cover plate?

When I needed to open the deck cover plate for emergency tiller I couldn’t due to corrosion.

Have tried with penetration oil for 2 weeks, put it in the freezer and afterwards heated the frame/edge.

Have realised I need to buy a new, Original brand made of alu, dia 130 mm will cost 340 euro.

There are 2 other alternatives for 82-110 euro.
* Osculati in stainless steel, dia 130 mm
* Jefa in alu, dia 129 mm

No compass close the rudder so SS might be a possible solution.

Any thoughts, con and pros, I believe the material doesn’t matter or does it?

I had a similar problem with a 30yr old plastic cover for emergency steering. Replaced it with stainless steel, looks good and shop around as I think all the small size ones may all be made in the same place. Mine was 3" (internal aperture diameter) in 316 stainless for £23 direct from Hong Kong on ebay. Same picture as chandlery ones 3-4 times the price. Looking good after 9 months.
