Hi All,
Hoping someone can help me please. I am nearing the end of a 12 year project and have decided to upgrade the alternator and to fit a Sterling alternator regulator. I have purchased a LR180-03C alternator from a well known auction site but can not get any power from it.
The connections on the rear look like the attachment.
I have connected 4 x wires as follows:
1. Case to negative
2. The verticle '|' part of the 'T' connection through a light bulb to positive
3. One direct line from the horizontal part of the 'T' connection to positive
4. One from the large positive to the battery
I have then spun the alternator at 2400 rpm using a power drill, but am not seeing any power being generated.
Can anyone see where I am going wrong? I've now spent ages scratching my head and browsing the 'net. I'm just wondering if I have damaged something and I will now not get power?
I believe the Sterling will later connect to the blue wire which leads out from the alternator case.
I will try and upload some better diagrams later today to better explain what I have done.
Thank you for any help.
