KAD 32, for the past 5 years when i turn the key to start the engine, it starts and the alternator starts charging straight away, the voltmeter moves from 12.9v to 14.2v within a second or so, also the rev counter flicks up to 650 ish from 0 at the same time, now when i start up the engine runs for about 10 seconds then i get a warning beeper for about 20 seconds the engine is running but there is no charge showing from the alternator, after about 4 or 5 minutes the alternator starts charging, and then is fine for the rest of the day, next day same problem, can anybody advise? the alternator is clean and dry and the belt is tight. thank you.

probably barking up the wrong tree, but on my IVECOs this exact thing happens, and I cure it by blipping the throttle past 800rpm and only then does the rev counter wake up and the warning buzzer shuts up.

cheers

V.

Our started doing this when the alternator was playing up (also a KAD32)

It's a long story so won't go into the full details but in the end we replaced our alternator and all is good again now.
