Alternator, Beta BZ482

I knew this kit came with the 70A alternator upgrade but didn't realise it was available with the 40A alternator. I will order one, sick of stretching belts and dust!

1/2" movement of the belt with firm thumb pressure is correct.
If belt is worn ( black dust!) you should consider replacing it soon

See the owners manual !

Down load from Beta's site if you have mislaid yours.

Half-inch movement (under firm thumb pressure) is measured in the middle of the top run of the belt, not the side run someone mentioned.

Exactly the reason I got the belt upgrade (not yet fitted though), but note that excessive belt dust can also result from engine compartment getting too hot (i.e. inadequate ventilation).

Direct from Beta. 01452 723492. Always had very quick, knowledgeable and helpful service from them. Explain what you want (helps if you have engine type, serial number and WOC (works order card number)) - they'll just take your card details and pop it in the post to you. (Don't forget to order a spare of the new belt, just in case.)

that's great, thanks :)

I've got a BZ482 with the normal belt. It has done about 450 hours and the belt seems fine still. There's usually a bit of dust to wipe off the engine at the end of each season but nothing spectacular. At what engine hours are people needing to replace the belt? (I do carry a spare).
